Planet Wings Teams Up with RECAP to try and make
Thanksgiving Dreams Come True.

Planet Wings Enterprises, parent of the “Planet Wings” chain of restaurants, has teamed up with the Regional Economic Community Action Program, Inc. (RECAP), a non-profit, anti-poverty organization, in an effort to try and help provide a Thanksgiving meal to lower income individuals and families in Western Orange County who may otherwise go without.

“We are proud to support RECAP’s Food Pantry and their efforts to make Thanksgiving a happy day for those who don’t have the resources to do so on their own,” said Franco Fidanza, President of Planet Wings Enterprises.  “We are prepared to do whatever we possibly can to help RECAP meet their goal of sending home a turkey with all of the fixings to hundreds of our neighbors that are struggling.”

Stephanie Capone, Director of RECAP’s Food Pantry states, “As a result of the recent natural disasters, local donations are at an all-time low.  Being a charitable organization we rely heavily on the support of the community to supplement the grants we receive.  The key here has to be balance.  We can’t put all of our focus in one direction.  If we do, then it is just going to be a matter of time before we have another huge problem that will impact the very neighborhoods we live in.”

Capone mentioned that RECAP has very limited freezer space and that RECAP is in need of not only large turkeys, but smaller turkeys or even turkey breasts for individuals and families that might only have a toaster oven or microwave.

In addition to making a significant donation of turkeys, Planet Wings has made a commitment to make freezer and storage space available in their Middletown stores.  Mr. Fidanza is also offering to assist on RECAP’s distribution days by providing refrigerated trucks to secure the freshness of the turkeys.  If anyone wants to join us in our endeavor please feel free to drop off your donated turkeys the week of November 6th through November 13th at the following Planet Wings locations in Middletown – 215 Wickham Avenue and 171 West Main Street. Through the generosity of people in Orange County and the efforts of Franco Fidanza and his associates at Planet Wings, RECAP can meet its goal, but we will need everyone’s support.

RECAP started sign ups in early October. They are currently in the final days for signing up RECAP clients and income eligible individuals and families in Western Orange County for Thanksgiving Food Baskets. If you need assistance you should stop by or call RECAP (845) 342-3978 to set up an appointment to sign up. Distribution begins November 15th and continues through November 22nd.

Your financial support, even if it is just sparing some pocket change can help.  Every donation, small or large, is greatly appreciated and desperately needed for all of our programs. “Together We Can Make a Difference!” exclaims Capone.  We just needed to get started.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call:  Stephanie Capone at (845) 342-3978, ext. 30.
Please make your check payable to RECAP, Inc. and forward your tax-deductible contribution to:  RECAP, Inc., 40 Smith Street, P.O. Box 886, Middletown, New York 10940.
