Duck-A-Thon A Success
The annual Duck-A-Thon sponsored by the Newburgh Family YMCA and Newburgh Day Nursery, held Saturday, September 30th was a great success raising nearly $20,000. The fun-filled family event included food, games and entertainment topped off by an exciting plastic duck race. The weather was great, the crowd enthusiastic and more than 2,000 ducks were launched into the pond at Downing Park by the City Fire Department racing to the finish line. Major event sponsor, Planet Wings, was on hand to provide food for kids and their families; K104 and Applebee’s employees donated their time to the day’s event. Top Duck Sponsors included Collection Bureau of Hudson Valley, The Kaplan Family Charitable Foundations and Adah and Bill Nicklin; with Honorary Chairmen Marge and Richard Lease and John Hutton.
Prior to the Duck-A-Thon, a Quacktail party with a silent auction and entertainment by Fascination was held with more than 75 guests in attendance raising additional funds for the weekend.
