Planet Wings Named “ROOKIE OF THE YEAR” at National Wing Fest in Buffalo NY!

The Planet Wings chain of restaurants was invited to the prestigious National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo, New York, this year where they took Rookie of the Year honors! The festival, held over Labor Day weekend, drew over 65,000 attendees and featured 25 premiere restaurants from all over the country. In all, over 400,000 wings were consumed representing over 20 tons of chicken. The event was covered by 162 national and local media outlets, and over $20,000 was raised for local Buffalo-area charities.

The festival, which lasted for three days, featured live entertainment, a car-and-truck show, and a Miss Buffalo Wing Contest as well as family and children’s entertainment. The main events included cooking demonstrations, a sauce-recipe competition and the United States Chicken Wing eating championship.

“We were proud to be asked to participate in this year’s festival for several reasons,” said Franco Fidanza, President of Planet Wings Enterprises. “First, it means that our wings are considered one of the premier products in the country. But more importantly, we can be associated with an event which raises money for important local charities. Although we were happy to be named Rookie of the Year, next year we have our sights set on multiple awards.”
